Baton Rouge Book Drop, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We accept new and gently-used children's book donations to redistribute to East Baton Rouge Parish Title 1 schools, pediatric clinics, hospitals, Little Free Libraries and other non-profits that assist underserved children.
Are you a 501(c)(3) non-profit?
Yes. Baton Rouge Book Drop Inc is a registered 501(c)(3) corporation.
How can I donate books?
Please email batonrougebookdrop@gmail.com or send us a message through the "Contact Us" page of this website. We look forward to hearing from you and arranging for drop-off or pick-up of your donations.
Where are you located?
We operate out of a home office and storage unit in Baton Rouge, Louisiana both close to Acadian Thruway and Perkins Road (near the Trader Joe's.) Please email us at batonrougebookdrop@gmail.com for our physical address if you are interested in donating books to our organization.
What kind of book donations do you accept?
We accept children's books for birth through 8th grade. We can also accept teen books if they are AR books (www.arbookfind.com). All types of books are accepted including board books, picture books, graphic novels, chapter books, etc.
Important - Please only donate books in good condition. We cannot accept torn, moldy, yellowed or vintage books (25+ years or older are not accepted.) Books with inscriptions are fine. Our books are donated to schools, pediatric clinics, juvenile courtrooms, hospitals and other environments that require like-new books for safety and cleanliness.
Why should I donate my books to Baton Rouge Book Drop?
We are a "one stop shop" for all of your children's book donations. Assuming they are in good condition, we can accept all of the children's books you are looking to donate.
You can be confident that each book will be hand-sorted and selected for a specific school, pediatric clinic, or other non-profit that needs each particular book. For example, a board book may go home with an early Head Start student, whereas a classic hardcover chapter book may be placed in a backpack for a foster child. A reader missing it's sticker page may go into a Little Free Library, whereas a Lego Encyclopedia with it's figurine intact may be a Christmas gift.
Can I donate money?
Yes! You can deduct your contribution under IRC Section 170. Please reach out to Anne Thomas at batonrougebookdrop@gmail.com or through the "Contact Us" page of this website. Anne would love to connect regarding your interest in supporting BRBD.
Your donation could be used to purchase a set of required-reading books for a classroom, or to send a newborn home with a "first library" of board books. We are also thrilled to discuss new ideas if you have a particular book donation that you would like to fund!
